HTTP Redirect

HTTP Redirect

An HTTP redirect is a server response that tells a client to request a different URL.

Redirects are commonly used when pages move, URLs change, traffic needs to be routed elsewhere, or users should be sent to another resource.

How Does an HTTP Redirect Work?

A typical redirect works like this:

  1. The client requests a URL.
  2. The server returns a redirect status code.
  3. The response includes a new destination.
  4. The client requests the new location.

A simplified flow is:

Client Request
     ↓
Redirect Response
     ↓
New URL
     ↓
Final Response
